150 families affected by floods

AN OFFICIAL of the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) said more than 150 families were affected by flooding that hit some areas in Davao City after a heavy downpour that lasted for almost three hours early Tuesday.

CSSDO emergency focal person Maria Luz Farañal, in a telephone interview with Sun.Star Davao Tuesday morning, said affected areas were Sto. Nino in Tugbok, Bago Gallera in Talomo District, Puan and Matina Aplaya.

"As of now, we cannot determine yet the total damage of the flooding. Most our field workers are still doing their reports to estimate the cost of damage," she said.

She said they are also verifying the total number of affected families.

"Naka-experience ng mataas na tubig ang areas sa Sto. Niño Tugbok, particularly at the Talipapa area. May naitalang isang totally damaged house at isang partially damaged house. Nagpre-emptive evacuation na din ang ibang families doon," she added.

No casualty was reported in the incident.
