Carmen treasurer's office robbed

POLICE are looking into the possibility that the robbery incident that took place at the Municipal Treasurer's Office in Carmen, Davao del Norte on Tuesday was an "inside job."

Senior Superintendent Samuel Gadingan, provincial police director, said they are still conducting follow-up investigation to identify those behind the incident.

"Isa din sa tinitignan naming angulo ang inside job doon sa Treasurer's Office. Kasi parang alam nila kung anong oras at timing na gawin yung pagnanakaw," he told Sun.Star in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon.

Gadingan also said the robbers took a total amount of P700,000 taken from the Treasurer's Office's vault.

Gadingan was puzzled why the office personnel are leaving a huge amount of money inside their office.

"May Civil Security Units ang mga municipalities at dapat sila ang in-charge sa kanilang areas kaya lang minsan nawawala yan sila sa kanilang mga post, iniiwanan nila yan," Gadingan said.

He added they have organized an emergency meeting at the police provincial headquarters Tuesday afternoon to address the incident.

To be discussed are counter-measures to ensure that such will not happen again.

He also encouraged all local chief executives in the province to install closed circuit television cameras in their offices.

"Makakatulong kasi yung mga footage if may nangyayari ng ganito," Gadingan said.
