Prisaa-Davao meet kicks off March 31

THE Private School Athletic Association (Prisaa) Regional Meet will kick off at 3 p.m. of March 31 at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Prisaa-Davao president Ma. Lita Montalban, who earlier attended a graduation ceremony of her scholars at Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth (RRYC), bared this in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Montalban said they are going to conduct a simple opening program to save funds for their participation to the National Prisaa Finals in Zambales on April 23-28.

"We will make it simple to prepare for a bigger budget in going to Zambales," she said, adding that she will miss the opening as she has to attend a meeting in Davao City.

Dancesports, vocal solo and search for Mutyang Prisaa will follow after the simple opening program.

A solidarity meeting for coaches will be held in the morning.

The Emar Human and Environmental College (Ehec) High School boys’ basketball team, however, will remain in Davao City along with other automatic qualifiers to focus on their training.

“Yung mga sports na wala nang laro sa Tagum, pwede na silang di pumunta para din maka save sila ng budget para sa nationals,” she said, confident that the city will retain its overall title in the regional qualifying meet.

She admitted, however, that Davao Region athletes still need to improve after finishing second in High School and fourth in college division of the 2016 National Prisaa Championships.

Montalban also said that she dreams of bringing the National Prisaa 2019 in Davao City before she retires.
