A YOUNG trekker went missing at Barangay Patag in Silay City, Negros Occidental Thursday.
Geoffrey Gutierrez, head of Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, identified the victim as Darryl Delocario, 19, of Silay City.
Delocario, along with nine others, went to Tinagong Dagat in Mount Mandalagan early Thursday. The victim went missing around 11 a.m.
Members of Bantay Bukid of Silay City conducted search and rescue operations after they received the report in the afternoon. They also coordinated with the rescue unit of Talisay City to locate the victim.
As of 10 p.m. last night, rescuers have yet to find Delocario, Guttierez said.
The operation was temporarily stopped because of the rain.
Last year, trekkers were restricted from climbing Tinagong Dagat in Mount Mandalagan after 25 female mountaineers were rescued when they got stranded at Barangay Cabatangan in Talisay City.
