PFF to hold U16 tryouts

IN SEARCH of the best Under-16 players here in the Cebu, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) with the help of the Cebu Football Association (CFA) will hold tryouts at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) football grounds in Punta Princesa today.

A total of 25 Under-16 players showed up in yesterday morning's session, which was headed by PHL Under-16 coach Bro. Mari Aberasturi and assisted by some local coaches.

There were two tryout sessions yesterday and there will be one more this morning.

"(It's) an open tryout for (players) born in 2000. The same set of players (in the tryouts) but if some players born in 2000 wish to join then they are welcome to tryout and inspected of their level of play," Cebu Elite Under-16 squad coach Dennis Peñalosa, who assisted Aberasturi, told Sun.Star Cebu.

Cebu is just one of the many stops of Aberasturi in choosing the best Under-16 footballers in the country.

A total of 33 players will be chosen for the final training pool, which will be trimmed down to the final 22.

"We based our inspection on the physical aspect, technical aspect, tactical aspect and mental aspect," said Peñalosa on choosing a player.

The PHL Under-16 team will be competing in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-16 Championship in Solo, Indonesia from July 27 to August 9.
