A CONSTRUCTION wor-ker allegedly killed his younger brother in a fit of jealousy.
Suspect Abundio Venanel, 43, shot Bryan, 23, in the head and body inside their mother’s house in General Climaco, Toledo City, Cebu around 8 p.m. last Monday.
Thirty minutes before the incident, Abundio allegedly mauled his wife Anita and locked her up inside their house.
He suspected Anita of having an affair with Bryan.
Abundio eluded arrest.
Also in Toledo City, Luchie Bularin, 29, was stabbed several times with a pair of scissors by her brother Dondon in Barangay Poblacion.
Dondon then tried to take his own life by stabbing himself in the stomach.
The incident took place around 6 p.m.
Investigator SPO2 Be-nedicto Bobilles Jr. said the Bularins are still alive, but they are in critical condition.
Over money
The siblings were rushed to the Toledo City District Hospital, but Dondon was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Luchie and Dondon reportedly had an argument over money sent to them by another sibling working abroad.
In the first incident, Bobilles said Abundio confronted Bryan was inside their mother Gorina’s house.
“Unsa man gyud inyong binuhatan (What are you two up to)?” Gorina quoted Abundio as saying.
Brian replied: “Unsa may pasabot nimo ba (What do you mean)?”
Abundio then shot Bryan twice from behind.
Gorina told police that when she fell ill, she had to stay with another child, leaving Bryan alone in the house. Anita reportedly brought him food on several occasions.
Rumors
Rumors were going around that the two were lovers.
“Basin nituo ang suspek sa huhungihong (Maybe the suspect started to believe the rumors),” said Bobilles in a phone interview.
Bobilles said Anita denied having an affair with her brother-in-law.
In the Bularins’ case, Luchie reportedly wanted to claim the money sent by her sibling last Monday.
Dondon, though, wanted the money for himself.
After they had dinner, Luchie went to the kitchen to brush her teeth. It was then Dondon attacked her from behind.
The incident was witnessed by a relative, who sought the help of other relatives and neighbors.
Meanwhile, Feguracion Puebla Bitoon, 70, died after she was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road in Barangay Magay, Compostela, Cebu at 4:30 p.m. last Monday.
The motorcycle driver was identified as Mar Vincent Oamilda, 25.
Residents rushed the two to the Danao City Provincial Hospital, where Bitoon was declared dead on arrival.
