A PEANUT vendor was shot and killed by two unidentified gunmen around 2:30 a.m. at Rotunda Circle in Barangay Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City, on Monday, April 3.
Concerned citizens called the Cagayan de Oro city police station in Macasandig around 2:10 a.m. to report that they heard six gunshots in the direction of the Rotunda Circle.
The responding officers found the dead body of Bervin Bermudez lying on the floor of the said location.
Initial investigation showed that the victim, who sustained three gunshot wounds, was of legal age and a native of Barangay Kiyaab of the Municipality of Antipas in North Cotabato.
Witnesses in the area identified the victim as a peanut vendor, but were not able to give any information as to where the he resides in the city.
Witnesses said the two suspects were riding one blue Honda XRM motorbike without a plate number. The suspects immediately fled the scene after the incident.
The police gathered from the crime scene one unfired and six fired cartridge cases of 9-millimeter ammunition which police believe was used in shooting the victim.
There was also one bolo, one shoulder bag filled with assorted clothing, and one sack of cartons. After examination of the bag, the police found P210-worth of money, a disposable lighter, one pack of cigarettes, one silver bracelet, and one silver ring inside.
Bermudez was brought to a funeral parlor. The police are now in pursuit of the two suspects of the shooting.
