Summer Vacation Puma Sevens moved to May

IN A bid to attract more teams, the Summer Vacation Puma Sevens Football Cup will be moved to a later date.

Coach Aries Bocalan said due to the upcoming holy week and other concerns raised by several teams, the tournament was instead moved to May 12 to 14 instead of April 8 and 9 at Baguio Athletic Bowl.

“Since some requested to move the tournament because of the upcoming holy week break, we decided to move the tournament so we can have more participants,” said Bocalan.

“The tournament is a regional event for northern Luzon kaya we wanted na lahat ay available,” added Bocalan saying registration is still on.

Age categories for the event are under-9 (U9) mix, U11 boys and girls, U13 boys and girls, and U17 boys and girls, U15 boys and girls, U19 boys and girls, and ladies and men’s open.

Bocalan said all games will be played seven-a-side including fun games.

Meanwhile, the football clinic staged by Cordillera Goshenland Football Club for kids’ ages 8 under, 10 under and 12 under is also ongoing.

Enrollment fee per module consists of 10 sessions is at P1,000 including two training shirts. Interested participants may download clinic forms from Goshenland Facebook account or may contact Ross Rillera at 0927-470-8354 to register.

Bocalan, together with Gatan Dalang, will form the coaching staff for the clinic to be assisted by current college varsity players were a graduate of the club’s football program. The clinic will follow the Fifa grassroots football program as the instructional approach. (Roderick Osis)
