Crab savvy resto

CRABS aren’t always my cup of tea. It takes too much time to open them and sometimes you only get to eat so little after all those exhausting efforts to crack it. That's why, when I went to this new seafood restaurant in Torres Street, I did not expect much and so, I was surprised.

The resto is called RD Crab Shack.

Before the food was served, I had a little walk through the restaurant which really resembles that of a shack but bigger - so much bigger and modern. It was noon time but the place wasn't hot as the midday sun, maybe because of its high ceiling and ventilation.

The shack also has a second floor which turns into a bar at night with live bands during the weekends. I estimate around 20 to 30 people can sit comfortably in it and enjoy its elevated view.

A little chit-chat with Miss Reyna Katigbak, the owner, bared that they also offer Karaoke to guests upon request. She said that they actually placed insulator on their roof so the atmosphere would still be airy even when it's high noon.

We had Aligue Rice, Stuffed Shrimp with Bacon, Crab in Southern Spices, Shrimp and muscles, and Shrimp coated in cereal. The last one sounded weird at first but when I tasted it, it was so good! It's on my recommended list. The chef did it so well that the sweet and milky flavor of the coating blended well with the shrimp.

And although I'm not fond of crabs, I knew I had to try that Southern Spices sprinkled crab dish-I'm telling you the sauce is so tempting and it is really flavorful. I think it's the kind of sauce that will make you get more rice even when you're on a "strictly-no-carb-diet" *coughs*. The crab meat was tasty as well. There's a satisfying amount of meat in my crab and it wasn't too soft nor too hard - just right.

The other meals were okay too and I think the best about this restaurant is the variety of menu that they offer and its affordability. They offer Paluto-All-You-Can where you can have two crab dishes of your choice and other meals in their menu, they will only charge P499 per person (but be sure to finish your meal or you'll have to pay the excess charge hehe).

And oh, those crab shells don't go to waste since the staff offers clean and dried shells to customers as souvenirs after they eat. Some put it on a wall in one portion of the restaurant and it looks artistic and decorative.

They also cater to big groups for reservations since they have a fully-air-conditioned room that can comfortably sit 70 people. You can contact (0918) 229 5000 or you can go directly to their restaurant at Prime Square Compound in Torres Street (behind Frog Kaffee).
