Cabamongan positive for drug use in confirmatory test

SUPERINTENDENT Lito Cabamongan, the police official caught in a drug session in Las Piñas, has tested positive for illegal drugs use in the confirmatory test, Crime Laboratory director Chief Superintendent Aurelio Trampe said Wednesday.

"Cabamongan and Nedy Sabdao showed positive result for shabu but negative for marijuana," he said in a press conference in Camp Crame.

On March 30, Cabamongan and his companion Sabdao were arrested after being caught in the act of using shabu.

Cabamongan was the former chief of the Crime Laboratory Satellite Office in Alabang and the highest official nabbed for illegal drug use.

Trampe earlier said that based on the initial result of the neuropsychiatric test conducted on Cabamongan, he has "psychosis secondary to drug abuse."

He said the results of the confirmatory test, neuropsychiatric examination, and other assessments will be forwarded to the Internal Affairs Office currently conducting investigation on Cabamongan's case.

He said the results can be the basis of administrative and criminal charges against Cabamongan that may lead to his dismissal from the police service.

Earlier, PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa said he wanted to skip due process and immediately order Cabamongan's dismissal for he is no longer fit for his position. (SunStar Philippines)
