A KOREAN-AMERICAN man was arrested for selling ecstasy, a type of prohibited drug, at a mall in Pasay City, police said Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Graciano Mijares, acting director of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group, said No Jun alias Justine, an American citizen of Korean descent, was arrested on Wednesday evening during a buy bust operation at the parking lot of Mall of Asia Complex.

Recovered from the suspect were 140 tablets of suspected ecstasy worth around P420,000. The illegal substance was made from imported materials mixed local ingredients to make it into a tablet form, said Mijares.

No was a subject of surveillance by the defunct PNP-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) before the police unit was dissolved in February.

PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa dismantled the AIDG after some of its members were involved in the kidnap and slay of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo.

"He is among the pending projects of the AIDG. This is the result of the hardwork of our operatives," said Mijares.

He said No stayed in Cebu for three years where he possibly started his illegal activities and built his network.

Mijares said they were checking the suspect's prior activities to know if he was part of a bigger syndicate involved in sale of illicit drugs.

No is faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (SunStar Philippines)
