Transpo office to study Zambo airport development project

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has issued an executive order creating a technical working group (TWG) that will assist the Department of Transportation and TCGI Engineers in undertaking the feasibility study for the Zamboanga International Airport development project.

Also covered in the undertaking is the drawing of a master plan and environmental impact assessment for the same project.

Salazar issued the order following a coordinative meeting initiated by the DOTr and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines together with the consultants last week for the updating of the 2010 feasibility study.

Salazar said Thursday that the updating work to be undertaken by the consultancy firm, TCGI Engineers, will cover a period of eight months starting March to November 2017.

The City Planning and Development coordinator is the focal person, while the person who hold the Executive Assistant V position will be the assistant under the TWG.

Members will come from the different city departments and divisions under the Office of the City Mayor, as well as representatives of the civil aviation area manager, Edwin Andrews Air Base, National Economic and Development Authority, Environment Management Bureau, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, and United States Agency for International Development (USAid)-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (Surge) Zamboanga City program coordinator.

The TWG will provide the necessary data, assistance in the conduct of investigation of the candidate sites for the new airport, and other functions that Salazar may assign. (SunStar Philippines)
