PNP has new spokesperson

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Wednesday that it has a new spokesperson, the third to assume the post since January.

Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Franco will be replacing Senior Superintendent Bartolome Tobias who is reassigned to the PNP Liaison Office to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as senior police assistant to Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

Franco who is chief of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations has been designated in a concurrent capacity as officer in charge (OIC) of the PNP Public Information Office.

Before being assigned to the PNP-PIO, Tobias was former head of the PNP-Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operatives Task Force.

Tobias assumed the post last April 27 when Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., who was named spokesperson on January 28, returned to his previous post as chief of the Directorate for Intelligence.

Franco said his appointment is temporary since Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor who is the supposed replacement of Tobias will assume the post upon his return from a vacation in July.

Mayor who served as spokesperson from September 2014 to January 2015 was also a former deputy chief of the Directorate for Intelligence. (Sunnex)
