Security guard stabbed to death in Cagayan de Oro

A SECURITY guard was stabbed to death while a fast food server was fatally injured after an alleged heated argument over drugs at an eatery in Cogon, Cagayan de Oro, April 6.

Around 2:40 a.m., officers of police station 2-Cogon received a call for assistance from a lady who said that there was an ongoing fight inside the Remember Me Fastfood and Eatery along Captain Vicente Roa Hayes street.

Police found the dead body of 29-year-old Alfie Saturno of Barangay Tumpagon. According to the fastfood's owner, Saturno was the security guard of the establishment.

Saturno received a lone stab wound on his back and was declared dead by the responding Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco).

After a hot pursuit, Police Officer 3 Manolito Budo together with some Barangay Tanods, caught the two suspects, 20-year-old Garry Sucatan of Barangay Dansolihon and 24-year-old Bernel Berina of Barangay Nazareth.

Medical staff of Maria Reyna Hospital also reported stab victim named Rico Serano was later rushed to the said hospital for medical assistance by concerned citizens. 25-year-old Serano of Malaybalay, Bukidnon is one of the eatery's crew and has incurred a serious stab wound on the left side of his face.

Sucatan admitted that he was under the influence of liquor when he stabbed Saturno. He added that Berina and another unidentified suspect were the ones who incited him to attack Saturno.

Witnesses on the scene, however, said that the two suspects were having a heated argument with the victims before the stabbing incident. Witnesses the four have been arguing about drugs. However, no sign of drug use were found in either of the suspects.

An eleven-inched knife which police labeled as the murder weapon was recovered from the crime scene.

The two suspects are now under the custody of Cogon police station.
