rB1’s Team Lingas on Thursday played with their hearts out to finally have its first taste of victory in seven outings at the expense of Con-Air’s Team Alam Na, 79-77 in the ongoing Green CdeO Eagles 3rd President’s Cup basketball tournament at the SPC covered court here.

In the first game, Oki Doki Doc notched its second-straight upset win over the Jan Babiera-led Rex Physical, 79-78 to help Romuls Power back on the solo lead after an easy win against Baba Pro-Audio, 71-60 in the nightcap.

As Relevo presided over Team Lingas offense with 32 points, he got a strong back-up from Balong Mabalot, Allan Vison, Pepper Ferolino, Lungay and Clifford Comandante on both ends of the floor.

In the homestretch, Vison made a crucial interception and converted two freethrows to put Team Lingas back in contention. Comandante hauled off crucial rebounds and swatted away a potential game winner basket by Con-Air’s power center Loloy Gelogo. Then Sgt. Pepper connected back-to-back 3-pointers to complete Team Lingas’ upset win that spoiled the debut of "Baby James" Abucejo with Team Alam Na.

Like in their one-point escape over Romuls Power the last time out, Oki Doki Doc was the underdog opposite Rex Physical that also had the youthful troika of Ronald Acenas, Wesley Daculiat and Licong in their roster.

But the league’s smallest guy on the floor, "Stev Panaz" Salgados made four steals and 6 fastbreak points in the second quarter to spark another breathtaking finish by Team Doki fronted by "John Lloyd" Tokbien Neri.

“Basta maningkamot lang di gyod diay masiguro ang dula,” said team skipper, Dr. Welbourne Neri.

Marvin Neri finished the game with 19 points as EC Yuayan, Abella and Mayor Emmanuel Mugot added 15, 11 and 10 markers each.
