BI nabs Chinese fugitive

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) authorities have arrested in San Juan City a Chinese national allegedly involved in economic crimes in China.

The BI Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) in coordination with Fu Yun Fei, Police Attache, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Manila, apprehended Saturday 35-year-old Zhang Cailin.

Zhang was arrested at his residence in Greenhills, San Juan City pursuant to the information from the Chinese embassy.

The embassy in a report dated August 2013 informed the BI that Zhang poses a risk to public safety and security for being a fugitive from justice.

"Zhang's passport has been cancelled by the Chinese government for being a fugitive due to his involvement in Economic Crimes," the information from the Chinese embassy added.

Zhang will be detained temporarily at the BI Detention Facility while awaiting for his deportation papers. (SunStar Philippines)
