A PASSENGER was shot and wounded by gunmen believed to be members of a robbery group who robbed a commercial bus along the highway in Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Wednesday.

Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, Police Regional Office Zambonga Peninsula (PRO) information officer, said the incident occurred around 3:55 a.m. Tuesday along the national highway in the village of Salipyasin, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Samuddin identified the wounded passenger as Lloyd Reambonansa, 22, a resident of the village of Lina, Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Samuddin said investigation showed that Reambonansa was aboard a commercial bus together with several other passengers traveling to the city from Pagadian City.

Samuddin said that two of the suspects boarded the bus in front of a funeral parlor in the village of FL Peña, Kabasalan and upon reaching the Canacan Bridge they declared the heist.

The suspects ordered at gunpoint the bus driver, Oliver Macapili, to stop and open the door wherein another five gunmen boarded the vehicle, according to Samuddin.

He said the suspects divested all the people aboard the bus of P33,200 cash and several valuables and fled.

Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects.

Reambonansa was admitted at a hospital in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Samuddin said.
