Huge crowd swamps SM City Pampanga’s castaway fest

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- More than 40,000 music lovers partied with some of the most popular Filipino bands during the third edition of the Castaway Music Festival held at SM City Pampanga over the weekend.

It was a night filled with rock and pop songs as top music groups of the ‘90s sang their most iconic and notable songs for Kapampangan audiences.

The solid line-up was kicked-off with the performance of pop band True Faith which hyped up the audience followed by South Border who are famous for their R&B songs such as “Ikaw Nga” and “Rainbow.”

Kapampangan rock music enthusiasts then raved it up with some of the most iconic songs of the ‘90s performed by Rivermaya, including “Awit ng Kabataan” and “214.”

Parokya Ni Edgar, led by its frontman Chito Miranda, Jr. did not only perform, but also mingled with the Kapampangan crowd with their well-loved stints.

The night was highlighted by the performance of musician and former lead vocalist of the most sought after Filipino band, Eraserheads.

SM City Pampanga Mall Manager Aaron Montegro said the mall management has prepared one of the greatest line-ups as its way of expressing gratitude to the public for its continuous support to the Castaway Music Festival which is now on its fourth year.

He added that the music festival, which is considered the biggest and most organized in the province, is aimed at uniting the X, Y, Y2K and millennial generations in appreciating the music of Pinoy artists.

With the overwhelming reception of the Kapampangan crowd, Montenegro said the mall management is now planning to boost the event in the coming years.

“We wanted to extend our deepest gratitude to the Kapampangan mall goers, and also those from other provinces who made their way out here. We hope that we can accommodate them better in the coming years,” Montenegro said.
