Pampanga university celebrates International Women’s Month

MAGALANG -- Soroptimist International of Pampanga State Agricultural University) (SI PSAU)-Magalang, in partnership with Gender and Development Resource Center, celebrated International Women’s Month.

Highlighted in the series of events is the forum entitled “We Make Change: Women Inspiring Women” which was joined by female employees of PSAU, students and members of SI Magalang.

The said event was organized by SI PSAU and the Girls’ Support Group to emphasize the essence of women in society.

Invited speakers were past president of SI Magalang and now entrepreneur Flordelis Feliciano, chair of the Women and Children Protection Desk – Magalang, Police Officer (PO) 3 Catherine Maizo, and Mayor Ma. Lourdes Lacson.

Feliciano reiterated how she and the members of SI Magalang pioneered the historical creation of the “Banal na Bunduk” project despite of her being a mother to her children, a supportive wife to her husband and a business woman at the same time.

PO3 Maizo discussed the rights of every woman and the legal matters protecting the women of the society.

Lacson shared insights on how she became a political leader and as the first female local chief executive of Magalang.

She explained to the participants the importance of bringing out the beauty of self, the love for the parents, the dedication and passion to work and the determination to become successful. She authored policies beneficial to women.

The culminating activity of the month-long celebration was the Zumba session participated by the PSAU female employees and students. (PR)
