A midsummer night’s dream come true

IF THERE is one thing teenagers look forward to other than graduation, it is their Junior Prom. The young ladies get to look like princesses and to have their crushes or best friends escort them looking quite dapper in their suits is quite exciting.

So on the night of February 18, magical creatures from all over the 12 kingdoms came together to celebrate a midsummer’s night dream. Fairies dressed in their prettiest gowns, and sprites in their finest suits gathered at L Fisher's La Proa ballroom in Bacolod City to celebrate a night of enchantment. But that wasn’t the only purpose of their gathering. That night, they also searched for their Fairy King and Queen, and the 11 members of their royal court.

Inspired by William Shakespeare’s obra maestra, the magical creatures danced to different songs choreographed by Rene Hinojales with the help of Marlene Monfort.

The night started with food and fanfare, and the guests were served their sumptuous dinner while they were entertained by the music of Jhem Seran and Mike Tambasen. The fairies, together with their sprites, then paraded around the grand hall for all the guests to see.

The cotillion followed, along with the awarding of the Fairy King and Queen, and their Royal Court. St. Scholastica's Academy’s Juniors Prom was indeed a night to remember. Truly, it was a Midsummer’s Night Dream, in which no one wanted to wake up from.

Indeed, for many days and nights after, the euphoria lived on!
