Dela Rosa inspects police deployment for Holy Week break

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa on Tuesday made an inspection in different areas of Metro Manila where influx of people are expected due to the observance of the Holy Week.

Together with National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Oscar Albayalde and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Guillermo Eleazar, Dela Rosa roamed around the bus terminals of Cuabo where thousands of vacationers bound to their respective provinces are expected for the Lenten break.

The police officials conducted the inspection to check the actual deployment of police personnel on the ground.

The PNP has deployed over 70,000 police personnel nationwide to ensure the maintenance of peace and order during the Holy Week break.

Aside from bus terminals, Dela Rosa also went around the airports, churches and even rode the Metro Rail Transit Line 3.

While on-board the train, Dela Rosa chatted with other passengers and assured them of their safety.

"Safe kayong lahat, huwag kayong matakot. Everybody's working, your government is working, your security force is working," he said.

Earlier, Dela Rosa said the Maute Group who claims links to international terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is establishing presence in Metro Manila. (SunStar Philippines)
