Oro Archdiocese: “Reflect on God’s unconditional love”

CAGAYAN de Oro City Archdiocese Vicar-General Rey Monsanto called on the Roman Catholic faithful to reflect on God's unconditional love to mankind and the dignity and value of life this Lent season.

Monsanto said that in these trying times, God's teachings should remain etched in every man's heart and that Jesus Christ died on the cross because of His love for mankind.

Monsanto also talked about current issues like the death penalty and extrajudicial killings and the importance of second chances.

He urged Kagay-anons to be instruments for people to change, be healers for people that are sick.

"Ang Ginoo nagpakamatay gyud para sa atong dakong sala. Niingon ang Ginoo nga ayuhon ang mga naay sakit, dili patyon, and this is also what we have been doing now sa mga NGOs, civil society organizations, ug uban pang grupo nga motabang gyud kami para malikay ta sa tanang kasal-anan," he said.

"Especially karon, nga daghan kaayo ang ningsakay sa war on drugs, daghan recorded casualty, sa approval sa death penalty, we need to reflect on value of life, and the dignity of one's life," he said.

The Archdiocese will have two new processions, on Holy Tuesday and Good Friday, April 13 and 14, which he said, will reflect on the current problems of the country.

On Tuesday, hundreds of faithful walked through the streets en route to St. Augustine Cathedral holding placards with messages saying, “Yes to life” for their Lenten procession.

The procession on Good Friday will be done from the Saint Augustine Cathedral to the Shrine of Black Nazarene.
