Basak San Nicholas village chief’s brother nabbed in drug bust

THE brother of Norman Navarro, village chief of Basak San Nicholas, Cebu City, was arrested 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in a drug bust conducted by the police.

The suspect identified as Sofronio Abellanosa Navarro, 45, an ex-convict, was arrested by the members of the City Intelligence Branch and City Drug Enforcement Unit.

Navarro yielded 110 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P1,298,000.

Navarro is reportedly a remnant of the slain drug lord in Talibon, Bohol, ex-police officer Owen Rosales, the prime suspect in the murder of Ubay Police Station Chief George Caña last June 2014.

Navarro surrendered to Cebu City Police Station 11 during the Oplan Tokhang, but allegedly continued his involvement in the illegal drug trade. (SunStar Cebu)
