AMID calls urging Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to test the waters in the upcoming presidential race, his daughter and former city mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said Tuesday running for the country's highest post seems unfit for his age.

In an interview at the sidelines of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) at the SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Premier, Duterte-Carpio told reporters that being the president of the Philippines has a multitude of responsibilities that her father may have to address should he run.

"Ing-ana kadako na magnitude na problema imong atubangon, when you're 70 dapat lie low naka, or dapat retire naka, or just be a mayor sa usa ka dakbayan, not as president sa usa ka country (The magnitude of problems that a president will face is great. When you're 70, you should slow down, or retire from service, or just be a mayor of the city and not as president of the country)," she said.

But Duterte-Carpio said she will throw her all-out support to her father if he decides to seek for the presidency.

"Suporta man ko sa iyang gusto, kung gusto niya modagan as president, 100 percent akong suporta (I am supportive of him. If he really wants to run, I will give him my 100 percent support)," she said.

"Pero kung ako ang pangutanon, personal opinion, dili ko gusto na modagan sya (But if you were to ask me, in my personal opinion, I don't want him to run anymore)," she added.

Despite the public clamor that the elder Duterte should run for president, he remained adamant, saying he is neither seeking nor interested at all for the highest position.

Duterte-Carpio, meanwhile, added that Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod has not yet decided on as to who is going to carry its flag for next year's elections.

"Wala ko kahibalo kung kanus-a ang meeting. I suppose mag shape up lang na tanan kung mo declare na siya as candidate whether mayor or president (I do not know when will be the meeting. I suppose it will shape up if he declares whether to run as president or mayor)," she said.
