Church of Christ lauded for ‘mega sinakulo’

ANGELES CITY -- The Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ was lauded for staging the Mega Sinakulo (Passion of Christ) last Maundy Thursday, April 13, in Pampang village here.

Angeles City Councilor Joseph "PG" Ponce told SunStar Pampanga Saturday, April 15, that the City Government is very grateful for the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ for staging the free "Mega Sinakulo 2017" play.

Ponce said that the "Mega Sinakulo" was produced by Alpha Omega Theatrical Production which had 300 actors and 33 truckloads of equipment, costumes, and props.

"In behalf of our Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno, fellow Councilors as well as the people of Angeles, we are very grateful to the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ for a spectacular performance. Truly the play depicted the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ," Ponce said.

Ponce added that the "Mega Sinakulo" was comparable to plays in Broadway, saying that it is the first time he saw live animals like horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats as part of the production.

"Even the costumes, stage, giant LED screens and props used where extra ordinary. There was an instance that people in the audience were crying because they really felt the message of the play," Ponce said.

Ponce said that 2,000 Angelenos watched the play which was held in a vacant lot in front of the city college.

The councilor also thanked Apostol Arsenio Ferriol of Marikina City and the whole Pentecoastal Missionary Church of Christ for a wonderful and meaningful "Sinakulo".

The Mega Sinakulo 2017 was also presented in Baguio City and Villasis, Pangasinan and was also staged at the Marikina River Bank over the weekend. (Chris Navarro)
