2 kids in Davao gas tank blast die

TWO children died several hours after a gas tank exploded at the Petronas Gas Shop along McArthur Highway at Km. 7 in Bangkal, in front of Petron Gas Station, Davao City Tuesday night, April 11.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Davao Fire and Arson investigator Ramil Gillado confirmed the report on Saturday that the children, identified as Kaisha Fuertes, 5, and her sister Christy, 9, succumbed to severe burns and heat inhalation.

They were declared dead around 3 p.m. by an attending physician.

Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Gillado said the pregnant mother of the two children, including the seven-month-old baby inside her, also died.

SFO2 Gillado said that of the 16 wounded victims, 10 suffered third degree burns in different part of their bodies, while six sustained first and second degree burns.

They were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for immediate medical treatment.

As of Saturday, SFO2 Gillado said they are still investigating the cause of the explosion that damaged some P1 million worth of properties.
