BUREAU of Corrections (Bucor) Director General Benjamin Delos Santos has called on the armed men to stop the senseless killings in Davao del Norte following the death of one Davao Penal Colony (Dapecol) employee on Sunday morning.
"I call on my former comrades-in-arms in the law enforcement community to stop the senseless killings in Tagum," Delos Santos in a statement on Monday said.
On Sunday morning, Dapecol accountant James Taping Davide was shot by a riding in tandem while he was on his way to Mabini, Compostela Valley for a family outing.
He died at the Tagum Doctors Hospital.
"Mr. Davide is the second murder victim after Kabungsuan Makilala last February. Both Davide and Makilala are my men in bureau," Delos Santos lamented.
The Department of Justice in 2012 held investigations on the alleged prostitution and corruption issues inside the New Bilibid Prison following the revelation of Makilala, who was then assistant head of the Bucor bids and awards committee.
According to intelligence sources, two more were killed in Tagum in between the killing of Makilala and Davide.
Two suspects have already been charged for the death of Makilala.
The masterminds, however, remain unidentified by both the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation.
Retired PNP Col. Rene Orbe has been dispatched to Davao to provide assistance to Davide's family. (SunStar Philippines)
