Megan Young to attend acting workshops in US this July

MEGAN Young is excited for what lies ahead in the future as she will fly to the United States to try her luck in the American entertainment scene.

The former Miss World titleholder recently signed with New York-based management company, Innovative Artists Agency, to represent her in any future dealings in the US.

In an interview with the 27-year-old at "Our Mighty Yaya" press conference, her latest movie with Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas, Young disclosed she will leave in July and will stay in the US for two months.

She will be attending acting workshops there and is open to auditioning for possible projects.

"I'm really starting from scratch. Kung meron, okay. Pero kung wala, at least I tried. I'm excited and scared kasi hindi mo naman alam kung ano talaga. Might as well try it now habang bata pa ako. I want to try everything I want to do habang wala pa akong responsibility sa ibang tao," Young said.

The Kapuso actress believes this is the right time to spread her wings and try something new outside the Philippines.

She said the opportunity presented itself and she won't waste it.

"I've always wanted to try it out but then I felt that before, it wasn't the right time and I wasn't in the right mindset na gawin ito. Now that I've done a lot of things that I wanted to do here, why not try somewhere else naman."

rShe clarified though that being a former Miss World doesn't give her the advantage from everyone else.

Young said that at the end of the day her skills and what she can offer to the table will only matter to casting agents or directors.

"I don't think it's an advantage na may international crown ako because at the end of the day, they will choose based on looks, based on skills and the right profile for the character," she said.

Asked about the reaction of her boyfriend Mikael Daez, the actress said he has been very supportive of her career and he even told her to be optimistic and enjoy the whole journey.

"He's happy, he's very excited for this new venture. Kami naman basta positive ang outlook namin sa lahat ng gagawin namin, masaya na kami doon," she added.

Young is the first Filipina to win the Miss World title back in 2013.

She is also not new in show business as she started her career in ABS-CBN then later on moved to GMA-7. (SunStar Philippines)
