SAN SIMON -- At least 300 residents from a village here benefitted from the medical mission sponsored by a steel plant on Friday, April 21.
The grand medical, dental and optical mission, held in Barangay San Isidro, was part of Real Steel Corporation’s (RSC) community outreach program.
RSC general manager Melody Arellano said the medical mission is their way of giving back to the San Simon community.
“Nakipag-coordinate kami sa local government kung saan kami pwedeng magconduct ng medical mission sa San Simon and they directed us dito sa Barangay San Isidro at natuwa naman kami dahil host barangay namin ito (We coordinated with the local government on where we can conduct a medical mission in San Simon and they directed us in Barangay San Isidro and we're happy because it's the host barangay),” she said.
Arellano said the medical mission offered free medical, dental and optical check-up, medicines to the patients.
She added that the company is eager to determine the common sickness in the community.
"We are willing to help in addressing them," Arellano said.
Arellano also said that RSC is also set to donate beds to the Bahay Pagbabago reformation center of the local government here.
Rural Health Unit Officer Dr. Marline Bagtas-Dela Rosa relayed the local government's gratitude to the smelting plant management for health services to Simonians.
She said such activities are of big help to the residents, especially to those living in remote communities such as Barangay San Isidro.
"Malaking tulong ito sa mga beneficiaries kasi unang-una, libre ito tapos nakatipid pa sila sa pamasahe. Ang kagandahan pa ay all-in ito, medical, dental at optical tapos may libreng gamot pa (It's a big help to the beneficiaries because it's free, and they can save their money for the fare. What's good about this is it's all in. Medical, dental and optical services with free medicine)," she said.
