AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) said Friday, April 21, that the city police will move to its new headquarters in Barangay 40 on the first week of May.
Cocpo spokesperson Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II said the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division (RLRDD) of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao will inspect the facility on April 26 and will likely give the go signal for the transfer on May 2.
Hortillosa said the RLRDD will do the final audit of the building before the formal turn-over.
The transfer to the 1,000-square meter new Cocpo building near the City Health Office has been overdue following repeated the delays caused by electricity and water connection.
The construction of the P20-million facility was finished in 2013 but the Cocpo, the City Government, and the Philippine National Police were unable to hasten the installation of electricity and water as well as procure other equipment and supplies.
The City Government released the P2.5-million budget last October 13, 2016 for the electrical connection and other necessities to make the new facility fully operational.
The chief inspector said the local government is now working with the electrical and water connection.
But Hortillosa said while the basic utilities are being installed at the building, the Cocpo will ask officials of Barangay 40 to temporarily tap electricity from the barangay.
“We asked the officials in Barangay 40 to allow us to tap while the application is being processed so that we can transfer on May 2,” he said.
Hortillosa said the transfer will be gradual and not all units will move to its new headquarters at the same time.
He said the City Public Safety Company, traffic and other special units will remain at the Maharlika headquarters in Carmen.
