Security guard shoots fellow guard in Cagayan de Oro

THE suspect in the killing of a security guard of the ongoing Macasandig-Balulang bridge construction project in Cagayan de Oro City have surrendered to the police over the weekend.

Authorities identified the victim as Mansueto Gayramon, 57, resident of Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City; while the suspect was identified as Marvin Macolintas, 34, of Barangay Bulua.

Both are security personnel of the bridge under construction at Tibasak in Macasandig village.

Witnesses said they heard a gunshot around 5 a.m. Saturday, April 22.

When the police officers arrived in the area, they found the victim lying with a gunshot wound in the head.

Authorities recovered from the crime scene a caliber .38 revolver and five cartridges.

Around 11:30 of the same day, the suspect surrendered to the police in Macasandig.

Police Inspector Arabelle Delfin, Police Station 9 deputy chief, said the suspect confessed to supposedly shooting his colleague due to personal issues.

"Iyang gi-admit nga iyang gipatay kay gikaminusan siya og giingnan nga wala training sa pagka-sikyo ug naa sila past conflicts so murag na low-morale siya," Delfin said.

But, Delfin said the suspect became inconsistent when he later denied that he killed the victim.

The suspect's mother said she noticed that something is wrong with her son.

rDelfin said they are uncertain if the suspect is drug dependent, adding that the suspect should undergo psychiatric examination.

"Murag dili man pud siya influenced sa drugs pero depende na sa among hepe kung ipaubos ba sa drug test ang suspect. Pero naa possibility nga ipaubos siya sa psychiatric exam para mahibal-an kung naa ba siya'y problema sa pangisip," Delfin said.

Delfin said the suspect will be charged with murder.
