Babanto guns for 2 golds

CEBUANA Rinna Babanto aims for a better finish in her second stint at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games as she competes in two events today.

Babanto was just 16 when she represented the country in her first SEA Games.. But despite her relative inexperience, she still finished with a bronze medal in Women’s Team Poomsae event after teaming up with veterans Rani Ortega and Janice Lagman in 2013.

“I’m a bit nervous but I’m still confident after just seeing the venue earlier. I believe that we can do it but we need to visualize from now on up until tomorrow,” Babanto, now a varsity player for De La Salle University, told Sun.Star Cebu. “But we will do our very best for it. The Lord will guide us, we know that we have a chance of winning the medal.”

Babanto will be competing in the Women’s Individual Poomsae at 9:30 this morning, followed by the Women’s Team Poomsae event, in which she teams up with Juvenile Crisostomo and Jocel Ninobla.

“I have a chance of winning both (individual and team). The last time it (our chemistry) was okay. The only difference now is that they are my batch and we usually bond together and have the same skills,” she said.
