Dongon wanted for bombings in Cagayan de Oro City

RENIERLO Dongon, the suspected Abu Sayyaf member arrested in Bohol along with Superintendent Maria Christina Nobleza, was among the group said to be responsible for the two bombings in Cagayan de Oro City in 2012 and 2013.

Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said Dongon, Nobleza's driver-lover, has pending arrest warrants for the deadly blasts at Maxandrea Hotel on October 2012 and at Kyla's Bistro along Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Mall, on July 2013.

The Maxandrea hotel blast killed two people and wounded two policemen while the Kyla's Bistro explosion claimed six lives and injured 48 others.

The arrest warrant for double murder with double attempted murder for the Maxandrea Hotel blast was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 23.

Another warrant of arrest for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder for the Kyla's Bistro bombing was penned by Judge Bonifacio Macabaya of RTC, 10th Judicial Region.

Gonda said they will wait for instructions from the police headquarters at Camp Crame if and when Dongon will be brought to face the charges against him.

"Wala pa tay guidance kay high profile ra ba ni and wala pa ta kabalo kung dad-on ba diri so maghulat sa ta sa instruction (We are awaiting guidance because this is a high profile case)," Gonda said.

"That time sa bombing ako ang operations officer and naa siya warrant apil si Usman Hapids sa Kyla's Bistro bombing (At the time of the bombing at Kyla’s I was the operations officer and Dongon had a warrant along with Usman Hapids)," Gonda added.

Gonda said they will also wait if the Department of Justice (DOJ) will make arrangements on how to go about with the cases of Dongon in this city.

Gonda said the city has no detention facility for high profile inmates or those connected with terrorist groups.

But Gonda said the Northern Mindanao Police is ready to provide full security should Camp Crame bring and turnover Dongon to the courts.

"Tan-awon nato kung naa bay lain arrangements ang DOJ kung didto na lang siya kay wala tay detention cell sa mga high profile inmates kaning mga terorista dinhi sa ato. (We will see how we will go about this, whether the DOJ has other arrangements)," Gonda said.
