Son stabs pa over kitchen mess row

A 54-year-old man was stabbed by his son to death after an argument over unwashed kitchen utensils in Barangay Bangbang, Cordova last Wednesday night.

The police identified the casualty as Everhesto Maquilang Cardente, who suffered several stab wounds in the body. He was a widower.

The suspect is Kenth Aluro Cardente, 22. He is now detained in Cordova Police Station.

PO1 Niño Barabad, a member of the alert team, said in a phone interview that Everhesto reportedly came home drunk from work.

He later got mad when he saw that the dishes on the kitchen sink were still not cleaned by his son.

Everhesto confronted Kenth and they had an argument.

The suspect later grabbed a knife and stabbed his father several times at past 8 p.m. He fled later and went to the barangay hall.

At 10:30 p.m., the suspect surrendered to the police.

The knife used by the suspect was not recovered.

SPO2 Laurencio Wagwag said Kent’s siblings informed him that they will not press charges against the suspect, radio dyLA reported.

They said Everhesto was rude to them when they were still kids.

Wagwag said Kent’s siblings decided not to file a parricide complaint against the suspect before the Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor.

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Liloan, Santander last Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Police identified the fatality as Brendo Filosopo.

Before the incident, the victim was driving his motorcycle when he hit a tricycle on the opposite lane.

The driver of the tricycle, Glenn Bongalan, 22, suffered minor injuries. He was rushed to Oslob District Hospital.
