POLICE arrested three drug suspects Thursday, April 27, and seized P126,000 worth of illegal drugs in a drug bust operation in Camoning Street, Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
The drug suspects were identified as Edward Agawin, 33, Demson Japson, 29 and Enrique Anito, 26, all Barangay Carmen residents.
Police confiscated two caliber .38 revolvers from the three suspects aside from the 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," placed in five big sachets.
Senior Inspector Mario Mantala, Police Station 4 deputy chief, said the suspects were all arrested in the house of Anito which, the police said, was being used as a drug den.
Mantala said the suspects attempted to pull out their guns but were immediately neutralized by the raiding team.
"Wala na sila kabunot kay na-surprise sila pero niaksyon gyud sila mao nagpabuto ta sa salog (They attempted to draw their guns prompting police to fire warning shots)," Mantala said.
Mantala said the suspects supposedly later confessed to being "distributors" of shabu in Carmen, Balulang, Lapasan and other villages.
He said the suspects also relayed to investigators information on their supposed source, whom they said, is from Camaman-an village.
"One week na nato ni sila gimanmanan and sila source sa mga ginagmay nga mga pushers sa Carmen (The suspects had been under surveillance for a week and we found that they were the source of small pushers in Carmen)," Mantala said.
Mantala said the suspects were always armed every time they supposedly distributed illegal drugs to their runners and other street pushers.
Confidential informants told the police that the suspects had the capacity to dispose of 30 big packs, weighing 150 grams and worth about P750,000 of shabu prior to the operation.
The suspects' names are included in the police's drug watch list, Mantala said.
The suspects will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
