The plot thickens on Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 5 Ep. 4

WE’RE now on the fourth episode and the girls are blossoming into something unexpected.

Again, unlike the previous cycles where all the girls in the competition are hunting for the same goal, their eyes are set on the prize, and everyone can see that they came to win. (That’s why there’s all that drama about favoritism.) But with younger girls in this cycle, it seems that winning isn’t really what they came for.

Well, for some yes, but most of them just auditioned to prove to themselves that even if they are lacking in experience, they can model too.

Let’s begin with the girls, who are the tigers in this contest, they’re the ones who do the extra, just so they would stand out. And the ones who are bringing fire in this TV show. Hmm.

Of course, first on the list, is our girl from Vietnam, Minh Tu. In the first three episodes, she was just the sick girl who faints during the shoot and the challenge. The recent misunderstanding with Clara showed how much she wants to be Asia’s Next Top Model. And it’s finally showing that she can now that she is on the top of her game.

Another fierce one is Dorothy. While she hasn’t been as shiny in the first episode, the way she talks during interviews, screams that she’s a fighter. She knows who to beat and just how to own the spotlight. I’d say she has the best attitude among the girls, not nice enough as she recognizes she’s in a competition but nice enough to work well with a team.

Alicia, Maureen, and Layla are obviously the girls, who want to prove something.

While Alicia is the brightest model, she's actually bugged with her insecurities and I think that's why she's always in the bottom.

It's hard to admit but it cannot be denied as well that Maureen and Layla are the girls who have the least to offer in this competition. This pretty girl can only go far but not in the top, she has the face but she's always clueless during shoots and that makes her a liability. Luckily again, she's on the top 3 but she's not going to fare nicely because the next shoots will be all about being fierce and with Yu Tsai on the panel, for sure he would search for that attitude, that killer instinct which Maureen don't have.

And Layla. Layla, poor Layla. As what Shikin said, she's the kind of girl who you should always know how she's going to do things or what's going on in her mind and that makes her really hard to work with! I pity Clara that she's identified as the crybaby because the real crybaby here is Layla. She uses sympathy when she's rock-bottom failing, all the time. She doesn't have desire to grow she just fakes it and hopes for a miracle that with her puppy eyes she can survive the judges.

Fortunately, the judges already decided that they've given her enough extension and it’s time for her to go, which only leaves a steering question. With the weakest link out, who will be the next to be kicked-out from the race?
