Capitol to file raps vs quarry operator with fake permits

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said that criminal charges will be filed against the operator using fake quarrying permit and coupons, April.

The governor confirmed that the Provincial Legal Office had been investigating the case, adding that the quarry operator from Kabankalan City was caught with bogus coupons in his possession.

“They printed lots of fake coupons,” he added.

Marañon said it’s up to the court to impose the appropriate penalties, adding that the quarry operator committed a criminal offense.

Provincial Environment Management Office head Wilfred Peñalosa said they already issued a notice of violation to the operator for alleged violation of the Provincial Tax Ordinance and for lack of governor’s permit.

There’s also an ongoing administrative hearing conducted by the PLO, he added.

He said the operator has yet to submit his reply on the complaint.

For violation of the Provincial Tax Ordinance, P15,000 penalty will be imposed on the first offense, fine and possible suspension of the permit on second offense, and cancellation of the permit on third offense.

The Provincial Board has also scheduled a hearing on the case on May 3.
