Bantiloc to banner City in PhilSpada

ASSOCIATION of Southeast Asian Nations ParaGames bronze medalist Agustina Bantiloc will banner the Summer Capital’s archery team for the upcoming 2015 Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled– National Games.

Bantiloc alongside four other PWD archers from Baguio City will try to hit their marks as the annual national sports event backed by the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Committee opens July 2-6 in Manila.

The two-time bronze medalist in the biennial Asean ParaGames, will shoot alongside Abraham Sakiwat, Jasper Guidongan, Giovannie Ola, and Allan Campos.

Bantiloc and Sakiwat will be participating in the wheel-chaired division while Guidongan, Ola and Campos will vie for honors in the men’s standing contest.

She will try to defend last year’s gold medals as Ola will shoot to improve his third place finish back in 2014.

“Hopefully we can deliver a good showing this coming PhilSpada Nationals Games, right now we are all focused with training for each of our events,” Bantiloc said.

Meanwhile Campos, who also competed in last year’s athletics events (lower torso disability division), will try to beat his three gold, one silver, and one bronzer tally last year.

In 2014, Campos topped the men’s shotput (6kg category), discus throw (1.75kg category), and javelin (22.59) contests.

Aside from archery, the five-man line-up of archery will also be enlisted to participate in other competing events.

“So far hindi pa namin alam alin sa mga contests ang masasalihan namin, as usual we will be taking multi-events pero it will still depend on the schedule and kung sino ang magiging available,” Bantiloc said.

“But since archery is our original event, ito lang muna ang focus namin sa preparations and training,” added the former PhilSpada female weight lifter.

The PhilSpada National Games will coincide with the Philippine National Games-Luzon Leg this year.

In 2014, Baguio Philspada athletes brought home 12-7-1 led by participants from the athletics contest with eight gold medals.
