2017 Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Katarina Rodriguez denied rumors that she was giving up the title she won two days ago.
"I never made any announcements that I'm not accepting the crown? Is it alright if everyone refrains from making assumptions first," the beauty queen said in a Twitter post on Tuesday, May 2.
Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) on Tuesday said the 24-year-old has expressed she may not accept the crown. It said it was still waiting for the formal letter of resignation from the beauty queen.
In an Instagram post, Rodriguez reiterated she never made an announcement to anyone that she is giving up the crown.
"It's been two days since one of the most intense AND fun experiences of my life. I've been sleeping & talking to my family, friends & loved ones," she wrote.
Rodriguez added that whatever her decision may be, it will be a meeting of hearts and mind.
"Also wanted to say whatever decision I make in regards to ANYTHING I will always consider where my heart & mind lie simultaneously. There's a lot of magic in honesty. Remember that," she said.
Rodriguez is among the six candidates from this year's Binibining Pilipinas who took home an international title.
She impressed the judges and pageant enthusiasts when she aced the interview round when she was asked to give her personal definition of a winner.
"My definition of a winner is somebody who understands that winning isn't just because of the reward. It is because of the responsibility that comes along when you win. What you do when you win and how to execute the job after you win. I think a winner is somebody who knows how to inspire others, who is kind, brave and so ever curious,” the beauty queen said.
Rodriguez, who holds a double major in Business Management and Philosophy from De La Salle University, represented Davao City during the pageant. (SunStar Philippines)
