Pangasinan's Limgas na Dayat crowned

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- Nineteen-year-old maiden Anie Uson of Labrador town was crowned Limgas na Pangasinan 2017 and reigned queen in this year's Pista'y Dayat in a pageant held on the night of April 30 at the Capitol grandstand in Lingayen.

Besting 24 other lovely and talented candidates from different towns/cities in Pangasinan, Uson also bagged other minor awards such as Darling of the Press, Miss Sunscreen Placenta, Miss Robinson’s Choice Award, and Miss Millennial Award in which she will serve as the province’s representative for the pageant in the popular noontime show Eat Bulaga.

Aside from her charm, stunning beauty and flawless complexion, Uson won the nod of the jurors after giving an excellent answer to the common questions given by the judges to the top eight candidates.

Runners-up include Ivy Lou Borbon (Sta. Barbara), 1st runner-up; Marikit Manaois (Binmaley), 2nd runner-up; Jane Flodine Espiritu (Mangaldan), 3rd runner-up; and Trixie Amyr Gavina (Pozorrubio), 4th runner-up.

Candidates who bagged minor awards are as follows: Charmaine Joyce Nava (Aguilar)- Texters’ Choice Award, People’s Choice Award and Miss Personality; Apple Joy Bacay (Alaminos City)-Best in Festival Costume; Marikit Manaois (Binmaley)- Miss Photogenic; Vanessa Baraquio (Basista)- Best in Talent; Ivy Lou Borbon (Sta. Barbara)- Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown; Jane Flodine Espiritu (Mangaldan)- Miss Friendship; Anjanette de Jesus (Urdaneta City)- Miss Showbiz Sosyal.

Miss Limgas title holder this year also went home with P100,000 and an additional P20,000 from Eat Bulaga’s Miss Millenial Philippines.

Cash prizes for the runners-up are P75,000 for 1st runner-up; P50,000 for 2nd runner-up; P30,000 for 3rd runner-up; P20,000 for 4th runner-up.

Governor Amado Espino III together with Pangasinan First Lady Karina Espino and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. graced the occasion. Also present were Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario and department heads led by Nimrod Camba.

GMA Kapuso stars James Wright and OneUp group provided the entertainment during the pageant while Luane Dy was tapped as one of the pageant hosts together with Nathaniel Daroy and Hazel Sison.

This year’s panel of judges was led by beauty queen-model-actress Ariella Arida and Ms. Earth Philippines.

Pista'y Dayat ended May 1 with the expected flocking to the beach of thousands of people wanting to take a respite from the sweltering heat of summer in their homes. (PNA)
