Raps filed vs suspected RHB member

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Police have filed information of illegal possession of firearms and explosives against the arrested suspected member of the Marxist Leninist Party of Philippines-Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (MLPP-RHB).

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Pampanga police provincial director, said they have filed appropriate charges against Ryan Lising, an alleged member of MLPP-RHB at the office of the Provincial Prosecutor Office, City of San Fernando by virtue of inquest resolution dated June 10 made by Assistant Prosecutor Ramon Tomas.

On Tuesday, the Pampanga Police Provincial Intelligence branch, Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) and Mexico police conducted an operation upon receipt of report that an armed group was roaming in Barangay San Jose Matulid, Mexico town.

While the lawmen were approaching the suspected safehouse of the group, they were fired upon by the suspects and an exchange of firefight ensued.

Five of the rebels were killed during the encounter while Lising was arrested, Recomono said.

The fatalities were identified as Roel Gomez alias Ka Remy, 32, Aries Nucum, alias Ka Amy; Evan Balaguis, alias Ka Lina, 23; Renato Nucum, alias Ka Toys, 52; and Ruth Vudade, alias Ka Ruth, 29, all residents of the said barangay.

Recovered and seized from the suspects were four short firearms, a hand grenade, two carbines, one M-16 rifle, two .38 caliber revolvers, assorted ammunitions and magazines.

Also recovered were four motorcycles without plate numbers and communications equipment. (Ric Sapnu)
