5 suspects nabbed in Dumaguete, Bais drug busts

FIVE drug suspects were arrested in a joint drug bust in two cities of Negros Oriental Sunday, May 7.

The drug suspect identified as Homer Ropa Cabanas, 38, resident of Barangay 4, Tanjay City in Negros Oriental was arrested at Sitio Canday-ong, Calindaga village around 6:35 p.m. in a joint drug bust by the police and operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Negros Island Region.

The operatives confiscated from the suspect six sachets of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” and P200 marked money.

Police also arrested Marquel Elma Bantilo, 22, of Banilad village, Gener Malacapay Sales, 26 of Candayong, and Edmund Vensuelo Cornelio, 26 of Junob village, all in Dumaguete City, after they were caught in the act using shabu, in a police report Monday.

Confiscated from them were six sachets of shabu and one rolled paper with alleged marijuana.

Meanwhile, police operatives also arrested a suspected drug pusher at Sitio San Jose in Barangay 2, Bais City, Negros Oriental around 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Oscar Deroma Sablaon, 32, and a resident of the said place.

Sabalon was arrested after allegedly selling one transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu granules to an undercover operative.

In a subsequent search, the suspect also yielded another plastic sachet of suspected shabu a lighter and a P500 marked bill used in the drug bust. (PNA)
