Masantol’s fluvial parade: A thanksgiving to ‘Apung Igi’

MASANTOL -- “This year’s fluvial parade of our town is aimed at gratifying our patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel or ‘Apung Igi’ for the progress and development that has happened in Masantol in the past years.”

Masantol Mayor Danilo Guintu said that the fluvial parade gathered officials of the local government and the Catholic Church to profess the unified faith of the town to its patron saint.

Mark Manabat at PPC officials.

The activity kicked-off at the Masantol Municipal Fish Port in Bebe Anac village here where participants rode colorful and well-decorated boats.

The image of St. Michael the Archangel onboard a barge was then paraded around the coastal villages at the right bank of this town.

According to Guintu, Masantol has experienced significant development in the past years as manifested by the entry of numerous investors in town which boosts the local economy.

He also cited the growth in the education and employment sector in town which is an indication that Masantoleño households are healthy and progressive.
