Portions of Bacolod City served by Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will experience power interruptions Saturday and Sunday.

Chuchie Destriza, general manager of Ceneco, said in a press statement that in order to ensure stability of its distribution lines, maintenance activities will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The electric cooperative sets the replacement and relocation of primary poles along Araneta St., fronting Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) due to road widening of the Department of Public Works and Highways, and tree trimming covering Alijis Feeder 2.

Affected areas are portions of Alijis Road, Araneta Street, Magsaysay Avenue, Goldenfield Commercial Complex, Barangays Tangub and Singcang-Airport, it said.

Destriza said that maintenance activities in the same areas will continue until tomorrow, June 21 thus, areas of Araneta Street, Rodriguez and Magsaysay Avenues, Rosario and San Juan Streets will also experience brownout.

Last weekend, some parts of Negros Occidental served by Ceneco and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) had experienced power interruptions due to repair of damaged conductors and replacement of corroded insulators conducted by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in its Calumangan-San Enrique 69KV line.

Meanwhile, Ceneco advises its consumers that, in the event of any power interruption, electrical switches should be turned off for safety reasons.

When electricity supply resumes, consumers should provide an allowance of about 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge, it added.
