AN ESTIMATED P15 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" were seized in a drug bust at Purok Bangrus, Barangay 1, Bacolod City Tuesday night, May 9.
The recovered illegal drugs with an estimated weight of one kilogram came from target subject Reynante Villanueva, 43.
Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., head of Police Station 2, said Villanueva sold a sachet of shabu to a police agent for P1,000 during the transaction past 9 p.m.
However, Villanueva ran when he sensed the presence of police in the area, prompting the operatives to fire a warning shot, but he still did not stop. He eventually managed to escape carrying a personal firearm.
Villarias said they were not expecting to recover such big value of shabu from Villanueva's house.
It is the biggest recovery of illegal drugs in the city this year so far, he added.
With such recovery, police are investigating to determine if Villanueva is one of the suppliers of illegal drugs in the city since he is not even included in any drug list under the area of Police Station 2.
Also arrested at Villanueva's house were his wife Julie and visitor Jan Deocampo, who yielded three sachets of shabu in the drug raid.
Both were caught packing shabu inside the house. Both have denied involvement in the illegal drug activity.
The two suspects are detained at the police station.
