DUMAGUETE CITY -- Two suspected drug personalities were arrested in separate drug bust in this city on Tuesday, May 9.
Police arrested Karen Jimenez Abalgar, who claimed innocence of the delivery of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” to a person unknown to her and a young man, who was also identified as included in the watch list of drug suspects.
Abalgar, 26, claimed that somebody texted her Tuesday, telling her to pick up the package placed inside a Hansel biscuit pack and when delivered, she would receive P5,000.
Police sources said they intercepted the supposed transaction after Abalgar delivered the illegal drugs to an undercover police officer at a beach resort in Barangay Mangnao around 6:20 in the evening of Tuesday.
Recovered were a big “bulto” or large volume of suspected shabu and another small packet of shabu weighing a total of 24.34 grams more or less, and the P1,000 marked money.
Abalgar said she would have used the money for the renewal of her passport for her trip back in the United States with her parents.
Police are now investigating another mode of transmission of illegal drugs from one person to another to avoid being tracked by the intelligence community.
This, after Abalgar claimed that she was only made to pick up something from a comfort room in one of the resto-bars in Dumaguete City and to deliver the same to somebody in a designated place without knowing the person except for the alias.
In a separate operation also conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, a certain Olivard Martine Eparwa, 29, was arrested during a drug bust in San Jose Extension, Barangay Taclobo in Dumaguete City.
Eparwa allegedly yielded one big “bulto” of suspected shabu and another elongated heat sealed transparent plastic weighing 4.72 grams.
Also confiscated were the Mio 125 motorcycle and the P500 marked money.
Two shooting incidents transpired in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, wounding two civilians, identified as Ronnie Fonollera and Arvin Kent Tropa.
The shooting took place in the boundaries of Zone 4 and Zone 2 at the basketball court in Looc, with the same gunman wearing a bonnet and jacket with hood.
Police operatives are eyeing the possibility that the shooting incident involved illegal drugs.
Both victims are recuperating in a hospital. (PNA)
