THE Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (Loptta) captured the championships in the Men’s Open Team Event and Boys’ Singles 18 under of the 3rd Philippine Super League Table Tennis Tournament held at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila last May 5 to 7.
In Men’s Open Team, national team members Isaias Seroñio and Ryan “Nash” Jacolo together with Rodel Valle and John Michael Castro defeated De La Salle-Zobel in straight sets, 2-0 to win the title for Loptta.
John Michael Castro, a La Salle senior high student, took the top plum in the Boys’ Singles Under 18 category after winning against EJ Yamson of De La Salle-Zobel, 3-2 in the decider.
Castro earned the right to represent the Philippines in the 23rd South East Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships 2017 at Toa Payoh Stadium, Singapore on June 13 to 16.
“Winning two championships in this tournament against the cream of the crop of table tennis players in the country shows the discipline, training, and the fighting spirit of Loptta,” said Loptta president Leonito Lopue. (PR)
