Brigada Eskwela in Mt. Province set next week

AS PART of the preparation for school year 2017-2018, the Department of Education Cordillera will be leading the regional launching of Brigada Eskwela on May 19 in Guinzadan National High School, Bauko Mountain Province with the theme: “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanaan, Isang Bayanihan para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan.”

The launching caravan will also include the kick-off ceremony in a public school offering senior high school.

DepEd-Cordillera regional director Beatriz Torno said during the Brigada Eskwela, the community including the teachers, students and parents will be showing the spirit of volunteerism in different schools for the incoming school year.

“During the Brigada Eskwela we will be helping each other to prepare our classrooms and other materials for us to be ready in the incoming school year,” Torno said.

Torno said the DepEd aims to have an orderly and safe opening of classes as well to make schools be environmentally sustainable and conducive to learning.

She explained regional directors and schools division superintendents will be mobilizing their adopt-a-school Program/Brigada Eskwela coordinators to ensure the successful program in all public and elementary schools in the region including the participation of the local government units.

During the program, schools are also encourage to plant trees, vegetables and fruits as part of their promotion of the green and clean campaign. School heads will be also playing great roles in the implementation of the program.

DepEd will be also be holding the Brigada Eskwela Best Implementing Schools for those having the biggest number of community participation including volunteers in different schools in the region.

“We want more participation of the community during the Brigada Eskwela. All the funds or materials the schools will be receiving are all voluntary,” Torno said.

During the Brigada Eskwela, there will be lectures on rabies awareness to be conducted in schools. DepEd is tasked under Republic Act No. 9482 or the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 to strengthen rabies education program through school health teaching or curriculum, and to integrate proper information and education on responsible pet ownership in relevant subjects in all levels.
