CAMP John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo) led by Robert John Sobrepeña remains in control of the former military camp as government stalls on billion peso payment.
Sobrepena said CJHDevCo is waiting for the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) payment of P1.4 billion before it vacates the property based on the ruling from the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center Inc. (PDRCI) as reimbursement for rental payments of the developer.
Sobrepena said there are no formal talks yet with new BCDA and John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) officials .
“They are still conducting legal audit and due diligence. As for payment, still no payment up to now. That's why we still have possession of the Camp,” said Sobrepeña.
BCDA president Vivencio Dizon has ordered a legal audit for the government-owned agency.
Sobrepeña, meanwhile, is seeing the legal process unfold for a libel case he filed in 2012 against BCDA officials led by former president and CEO Arnel Casanova.
“I feel the truth has finally come out and justice has prevailed, I feel very confident and has faith under this new admin, the justice system will be more fair, due process will be followed and the rule of law will prevail,” Sobrepeña said.
Warrant of arrests were issued to BCDA officials with Cassanova, Felicito Payumo, former directors Zorayda Amelia Alonzo, Ma. Aurora Geotina Garcia, Elmar Gomez, and Maximo Sangil, and holdover director Ferdinand Golez for libel.
