LTO conducts info drive on road rules

ANGELES CITY -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday went the extra mile and took to the streets in an information drive

to educate drivers and motorists regarding road and driving rules.

The information campaign was made part of the transportation office' regular “Big Cleanup and Sorting Day” done on a semestral basis

to ensure efficiency of delivery of services under its ISO certification and in strict adherence to the Anti-Red Tape Act.

LTO Angeles City Chief Transportation Regulation Officer Aida Santiago told SunStar Pampanga that the information drive was meant to

curb the growing number of violations committed by drivers and motorists in the area.

“In our monitoring, we have noticed that the number of violations committed by drivers and rules that they do not follow is growing.

To avoid them from being apprehended for these, we thought it would be wise to educate and inform them - by distributing flyers and

posters - of major violations under R.A. 4136 and JAO 2014-01,” she said.

Santiago noted that major violations under these laws include unregistered motor vehicle or motorcycle; driving without a license;

driving with an expired driver’s license; and driving with a student permit without the company of a licensed driver.

The same laws also cover violations like not wearing a helmet (driver and backrider) for motorcycle riders; failure to carry

registration documents like OR and CR; not wearing a seatbelt; no side mirror and defective lights; and colorum vehicles.

“We wish to remind our drivers and motorists to please obey the rules and regulations set by the LTO. Renew your vehicle registration

and license on time, wear your seatbelts and helmets, do not use your cellphone while driving and always observe and follow traffic

rules and regulations to avoid being penalized,” Santiago said. (JTD)
